And I've seen some rampant rumors about AAR affiliatesl
Some (and these are just rumors, but do make some sense):
WRLL (1690) Chicago
KOY (1340) Phoenix
KPOP (1360) San Diego
WTNT (570) Washington, DC
KLAC (570) Los Angeles
The Chicago, Washington and LA signals are owned by Clear Channel, who has had great success in Portland and is trying it out in Miami.
Speaking of Chicago...
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/columnists/ericzorn/chi-zornlog,1,704173.story?coll=chi-news-hedChicagoan Fred Eychaner has long been a major Democratic fundraiser as well as a significant player behind the scenes in local media.
And, as Robert Feder reports this week, Eychaner has been reinvesting proceeds from his sale of WPWR Ch. 50 into buying up small area radio stations to be part of his Newsweb Corp. group.
That group now includes four FM and five AM stations on the local dial, which leads me to speculate in a hint-hint sort of way that one of them may soon become a home for the fledgling liberal talk network, Air America. The programming, featuring comedian/author Al Franken, was yanked from the local airwaves several months ago because of a contract dispute between the network and the owners of the station.Newsweb's stations:
WKIE-FM (92.7)
WKIF-FM (92.7)
WDEK-FM (92.5)
WRZA-FM (99.9)
WNDZ-AM (750)
WCSN-AM (820)
WAIT-AM (850)
WSBC-AM (1240)
WCFJ-AM (1470).
