NPR: Clarke's "bombshell" is the least important news item
Edited on Sun Mar-21-04 09:19 PM by sally343434
At least that's the impression one gets after hearing their current hourly newscast. It was the very last item, even after "the fold" (where they do their ID and many affiliates cut away to do local news.)

National Propaganda Radio

1. NPR news coverage blatantly pro-Bush/anti-Kerry
Heard NPR's evening news on the car radio Friday night. Under the guise of a story on how the presidential campaigns would be funding hard hitting attack ads on the opposition, they replayed an entire Bush radio ad attacking Kerry, filled with the usual distorted spin, and then did no analysis of it's spin, or provide either a rebuttal from the Kerry camp, or any ad from Kerry. The story was how the local media replayed the Bush ad as news, giving Bush free advertising, and here was NPR doing the exact same thing.

NPR is clearly "shooting the moon" and betting everything that W will win.

3. I have to disagree.
I listen to NPR daily, including "Morning Edition" and "All Things Considered", and I feel that they are basically liberal shows, but that they try extremely hard (unlike Faux, for instance), to be FAIR and OBJECTIVE. I continue to have a great deal of repect for NPR, even when I curse them out on the drive home for not being more liberal.

2. Downhill
NPR has gone downhill over the years.

How many truly alternative viewpoints do you hear on NPR anymore?...just shy of squat.

We use to have "Talk of the Nation" for 2 hours and that was enlightening; occasionally. Now it is turning to mind numbing dribble from a show called "Day to Day". It stinks.
