Prediction: Media Will "Re-Commit to Objectivity" Once Kerry Wins
Yep, I can see it all now.

Just as the repigs wasted time and money on their partisan witch hunt of Clinton and then turned around after bush's (s)election and averred "the country is tired of partisan witch hunts (!?)," you may rest assured that the media nostri culpi will start on Nov 3 with the line, "we were accused of going too soft on bush. The country wants objective, hard-hitting journalism...and we promise that our coverage of John Kerry's one term as president - at least if we have anything to say about it - will be just that - hard hitting."

You heard it here first!

1. I don't get the media
Why would any media support Bu$h's assault on our rights. Once Free Speech is out the window, then the press will cease to exist. Do they really think I'll keep ordering a newspaper that's so full of shit..OH WAIT...

involved in. For example, MS-NBC is only a *very* small portion of General Electric's/Microsoft's income.

2. Prediction: they won't get away with it this time
The public perception of the news media has become much more negative in the last 5-10 years, and if they do revert to the Democrat velcro/ Republican teflon model (which they will, for sure) nobody will be fooled this time around.

They couldn't turn public opinion against Clinton despite their incessant efforts; they couldn't get the Chimp elected despite whoring for him nonstop; and they won't be able to prevent his defeat although they will pull out every trick in their considerable arsenal.

Their credibility has fallen in tandem with that of their heroes.

3. If they do
"recommit to objectivity" it should be done only after a full confession of how they gave Dubya and his merry band a free pass and a deep, groveling apology to the American people.

5. No, they'll blame the American people, not themselves.
"The country was in a different place...9/11 changed the tone of political discourse...we helped unite the country in its war against terror...but now there's been enough time that we can step back and look at the government with a more-critical eye, sorry that it just happens to be a Dem in power at this juncture...we didn't do anything wrong under bush...the country wanted us to be cheerleaders, blame the victims..."

And on and on the merry-go-round goes...

4. Definitely.
And you can bet the Repugs won't give him a chance from day one he will be demonized and there will be investigations about what color socks he wears. Will the Dems roll over again or will the unity continue after the election is what I wonder. If it doesn't and he loses Dem votes in congress all this unity now will be for naught. We need to win the Senate back.

6. The media is controlled by 6 major companies. Down from
around 60 when Clinton first got into office. They support Bush because he's pro-corporations and allowed them to further grab markets. Remember Mr. Powell in the FCC changed the percentage of ownership of the media giants? Well, more to come. That was the medias reward for backing Bush.
