Hilarious interview w/ Pete Courtney Oregon Senate (NPR-5 minutes)
Not only does he say the Republicans think they are "supreme beings" but his 'Throwing his hands in the air' attitude just cracked me up yesterday morning. He also gives a very accurate explanation of the situation Oregon is as well as many states.

"YEP"

"I should have been coooooooooooooooler"

1. That is a great story
Real politicians recognize that there must be give and take - but the zealots on the right can't handle any sense on compromise.

2. Heard a similar interview a few weeks back with Bill Bagley
Bagley is a California polititian who has been around since dirt. My wife dated his son when they were in high school and attended many political rallies, parties, etc. Bagley was on the radio (NPR?) talking about how the Dems and Repubs used to get along, compromising in order to "get things done", but nowadays the Repubs are so driven by all of this right wing nonsense that nobody ever speaks to each other in civil tones, let alone get anything done. My wife said that her parents were hardcore lefties (Marin county) but she was amazed at how well the Dems and Repubs got along back in the 70's, drinking and talking together for hours like old friends. Not any more.

3. No moderates are no more
Hell the middle is now the left. If you aren't right wing you must be a lefty.

Midless.

I was struck by how this guy sounded so down to earth, just a regular guy kinda thing. I think I could have a beer with this guy, it sounds like he could use one.

4. I heard this too.

He sounds like a real guy...Talking straight, about fed up with things. I'd say he could join Wyden in the Senate, but dude sounded like he was ready to shitcan all of politics.
