Bush paid for neighbor child's funeral.
Sorry if this is old news.

Has anyone else seen this story? A conservative friend sent me this story. Snopes apparently claims it is true.

Why hasn't this been reported in the press. If it is, will it give Bush a bump in the pols? Are they waiting to 'reveal' the story so that they get a more strategic bump???

From Snopes.com
Claim: President Bush paid for the funeral of a 6-year-old boy who drowned near his ranch in Crawford, Texas.

1. what crime is hiding in this story?
property owner neglect? I don't see Bush shelling out for nothing, only to protect his own ass somehow.

Yes, I hate the guy.

2. Which definition of "true" are you using?
"We haven't yet independently verified whether Samuel's funeral was paid for by an anonymous donor, or if so, whether that donor was President Bush (if the donor truly wishes to remain anonymous, the latter point may be rather difficult to establish)..."

3. Bush is guilty
"It is true that such a drowning occurred in the time and place described, that President Bush was at his Crawford ranch at the time (he was playing host to Mexican President Vicente Fox), and that some Secret Service agents took part in efforts to save young Samuel."

Why wasn't there an investigation for this! There's more to this and I suspect Bush had a nasty hand in this incident.

7. Probably to avert a lawsuit....
Was it on his property. Seems like it may have been since the SS was there. There's a concept in which a pond on private property could be designated an "attractive nuisance" and open up Bush to liability for the child's death.

4. bad leaders can sometimes do good things
While i can't stand the man I'm not going to assume that he is wholly evil. Partisan is one thing, irrational is another.

5. The only link I'd like to see is the
linking Bush to a soldier's funeral-meaning that I'd like to see him attend one of the funerals of one of the soldiers that have died in Iraq. That, to me, would be worth a headline.

And less unusual than you would rather think.

11. Hmmmmm???
Maybe, just maybe he paid for it to help his neighbor out during a terrible time.

And, maybe, just maybe he wanted to make an anonymous gesture and not get anything back for it.

Every tree does not have a wolf behind it.

Regards,

15. Even so,
It changes nothing. Still a disaster in spite of what random act of kindness he may or may not have committed.

If it did happen, I hope he doesn't use this for his campaign.
