In the debate tonight....
Senator Clinton said we are sliding towards recession...so...she used the R word...

Is this the first time recession has come up so definitely in public debate among the pols?

And what effect will her statement have on public perception?

Anyone?

3. I did also...
I just wonder what effect it will have overall?..Hopefully ALL the candidates and congresscritters will be forced to start adressing the issue openly...it is a far greater threat to our national security than anything else hovering out there...

2. One thing for certain
ALL of the Democrats need to be talking about the RECESSION NOW...instead of pretending like it isn't there, otherwise the republicans will attempt to saddle them with it after the election.

4. Agreed...
...no more sticking of the fingers into the ears and going "lalalalalalala"...it is our biggest national security threat, on many different levels.

5. Absolutely agreed.
And if Clinton is first to speak the truth about this, then she earns bonus points.

Now, if she could be honest about the role her husband's policies will play in the coming disaster, even better....

6. Right. On CNN last week it was reported
that most Americans believe we are now in a recession, even though it is not yet officially here.

For some reason, however, I was reminded of Mondale acceptance speech back in 1984 when he said:

Both Ronald Reagan and I will raise taxes. Reagan will not tell you this, I just did.

And this pretty much ended any chance for him to win.

So we need to be careful and I think she did it well. Mentioning recession and immediately offered her proposals on how to deal with it.

7. king dingleberry and unka dickwad brought up recession in late 1999
during the 2000 campaign

and that triggered the "dot-com bubble" bursting, so maybe this will launch a full-scale admission of the current depression
