1. Don't you know
if you say something over and over again, it must be true. Hence, 'tax and spend Democrat' takes hold and the sheeple believe it. Its no excuse for the Republicans' lying, but its a start.

2. All the media bull about the deficit coming down because of tax revenue increase from lower rates -
MSM feels no shame.

3. My microeconomics textbook swiftly debunked that myth
Empirically, the marginal tax rate which maximizes tax revenue for the government is between 79% and 85%. In other words, lowering the top marginal rate from 91% to 70%, like Kennedy did, increases the amount of tax revenue the government takes in. Lowering it from 65% to 45%, or 45% to 35%, or anything else below 79%, just leads to larger government deficits.

But amazingly, every article I read about the Laffer curve and supply-side pretends that no one has ever crunched the data to find where the optimal point is, and therefore it might be at 20% or perhaps 5%. Cut taxes!!! Money for nothing! Ponies for everyone! :eyes:

8. Kennedy's tax cut included many loophole closings
Kennedy did not himself call it a tax cut merely a tax change. The rest is all right wing historical revision.

9. As the economy falls into disarray..
... (and it is) as people lose their homes and their jobs and their smug sense of American entitlement, many are going to start paying attention and realizing that the GOP has been blowing smoke up their asses for years.

12. Our Media is Financially Illiterate
The Republicans get away with this because our media doesn't seem
to be able to educate the public on what actually is going on.

It particularly irks me when the deficit is reported using the social security surpluses to make it look smaller. Social security is a liability and shouldn't be utilized as a revenue in calculating the defecit.
