"...that suit them and ignore anything else. This is true not just in the economy, but in other sciences and their justifications for going to war."I absolutely agree. I had to take a macroeconomic class and I had to learn a general overview about supply-side economics without any other comparison to demand-side. No surprise, considering the textbook also supported unregulated free trade, unregulated free markets, low tariffs & taxes, and claimed that the minimum wage would lead to unemployment. It's funny how Republicans claim schools & colleges have a liberal bias, yet when it comes to economic theory, it's very conservative. No wait, it's EXTREMELY conservative. Not one mention of social programs whatsoever. The problem with general macroeconomic theory is that it doesn't take society into factor at all. It assumes way too many variables and tries to put everything onto a flat plane. Sorry, but from what
really happens, conservative thought doesn't play well into the real world.
Fortunately, I found this forum to really open my eyes on what has gone wrong with the Bush administration. I'm also in the process of reading a book that's fixing the "damage" to my economic knowledge, so if anyone knows people who are free market and free trade supporters, I'd show them this:
