When my mother was still alive with Alzheimer's I depended on the income from her investments to pay for her nursing home and have been considering how fortunate we were that this market turmoil did not come during that time. Is anyone here having to deal with a loss of income because of all this market downslide and bank failures? How hard are the nursing homes and assisted living places being hit? It may not be showing up quite yet but their assets are probably going to deplete much sooner than expected.
houses are sold to pay for such care. Depressed housing market means less money to spend before the elderly person goes on Medicaid. Not an excess of Medicaid beds available at present so relatives may be called upon to take the elderly into their homes.
3. I am a Regional Recruiter for a National Nursing Home Group...
and it is becoming a concern. On a recent weekly call there was discussion that there would no doubt a decline in admissions due to the economy. More and more people will try to take care of their loved ones at home with Home Health care...and while I am advocate for someone staying in their own home if they can, the level of care is not what can be given in a quality nursing home. This will impact both the patients, their families and the nursing homes.
