2. The problem many of us have is that we have mortgages. If we had
self sustaining homes, then perhaps we'd be ok. But if I lose a job, I lose my home.. In the meantime, I do my own gardening... If I had an enclosed in backyard, I squeeze some chickens in too.. instead, I may look for a co-op for meat and egss and milk.

4. If you're serious about backyard chickens,
it can be done. My sis-in-law successfully raises 5 or 6 chickens in a small area--maybe 6x12 feet outside & a little "coop" built onto the end of her garage. Also google "chicken tractor" for another way to do free-range chickens in a relatively small space.

5. Is not hard, I'm originally from farm counry.. I know how to do a lot of things
for myself, icluding sewing.. but I don't think anyone wants to go back to the dark ages like that. As long as you clean their coop, they are very easy to raise... finding a butcher is another deal; and I'm not that close to the country like I was before.

3. Health foodies have always known this stuff
We're the old hippies who realized that stuffing meat animals with edible grain instead of allowing them their natural foods while much of the rest of the world starved was merely unsustainable at best, inconscionably cruel at worst. We're the people who got nailed by rising prices and wages that never kept pace starting in the early 70s (Thanks, Nixon) and started to figure out how to stay healthy without eating the meat laden standard diet we could no longer afford.

I suppose these seminars are just to pass on the lessons we already learned the hard way. They're preaching to the choir now. Eventually, this stuff will go mainstream.
