NAFTA discussion with a friend

I'm discussing NAFTA with a friend (actually, two friends). One is categorically supportive of NAFTA, one is generally supportive of it. I am generally but not categorically against it. All three of us are liberal Democrats.

I'm looking for details as to the story of that small Mexican town that tried to stop the construction of a factory that was going to ruin their local environment, but got overturned by the Mexican federal government when the corporation sued through NAFTA. Can anyone provide? I haven't been able to find any credible rundowns of that particular incident online...

Also, does anyone else have any evidence of probative value to add to the discussion/debate? Other instances of NAFTA being wielded as a weapon of corruption and greed? Or perhaps on the other side, evidence to prove me wrong? :)

PR promises but dunno about that specific.

Plenty on the web about how Mexicans live in boxes who work for US manufacturers because of the wages and on and on...

Nafta has only been good for multinationals.

I don't get how anyone can support unilateral trade agreements.

Individually negotiated bilateral trade agreements protect economies and workers in both countries.

On this issue, Dennis Kucinich is absolutely correct.

As a ex high-tech worker now unemployed for four years, It is clear that NAFTA led the way for white collar outsourcing.
