2. Well...
The first stage took off.... I guess in about an hour they'll fire up the rocket at 50,000ft and the commercialisation of space will have begun.

Thats awsome this is the first step to commericalization of space. I guess thats the governments plan in action though. Spark the interest in space with a program and then let the efficent private organizations invest time and energy into developing real space technology

I think that's how it's got to be. This isn't the 60's when we were in the middle of a space race. NASA doesn't get blank checks anymore. The only way we're going to move beyond our orbit is to have private investors like Paul Allen foot the bill.
