BioSolar Announces Successful Run of Biobased Plastic Film

BioSolar, Inc. announced that the company has successfully completed a production run of the company's bio-based plastic film intended for use as a backing sheet for photovoltaic (PV) cells.

PV modules are expected to last for 20 years or more, and experimental modules made with this film are currently being tested to ensure that the film meets the longevity requirement. The test includes a 45-day temperature and humidity test as mandated by Underwriters Laboratories.

BioSolar's films are made to stand up to the environment of the PV lamination oven, and working solar cells can be made using the film as part of the packaging for crystalline silicon-based PV modules.
