Something new and not depressing. Decent science reporting from the NYT.
After reading a depressing Neocon's review of a book appraising Henry Kissinger in this morning's NYT, I was about to give up on this allegedly "liberal" newspaper, but found myself leafing through the magazine anyway.

I was surprised to find this article: The Genesis Project (astrobiology)

OK, they wax a little poetic at the end, but I thought this article worthy of some merit; hardly the usual tripe you see from this paper when it tries to address scientific issues.

1. Andrew Revkin's quite good, though more environmental than science beat
And the Times still at least tries to provide decent science coverage for the non-specialist. But aside from their Tuesday edition, it's pretty lame for dailies, though the LA Times tries.
