Fellow Washington Post columnist challenges George Will’s lies about climate change
Another Washington Post staffer has joined the pile-on against columnist George Will’s climate-change denial. Fellow columnist Eugene Robinson http://mediamatters.org/countyfair/200904080037?show=1">lambasted Will on the Rachel Maddow Show on MSNBC Wednesday night, and also called out the editors who let him get away with it.

“What George Will did was cherry-pick a sentence in a report, you know, be very persnickety in the way he parsed his sentences, and end up making it sound as if the report had said the exact opposite of what it actually said,” said Robinson. “He was persnickety enough that his editors, who also happen to be my editors, felt he didn’t quite cross the line. I thought he did.”

Robinson joins http://www.grist.org/article/2009-04-07-post-reporter-calls-out-will">two reporters at the Post who explicitly cited Will’s factual errors earlier this week. And last week political cartoonist Tom Tooles also poked fun at Will.

1. And the MSM bleating about the demise
of news?papers across the country sit in their cloistered suites wondering why there is mass desertion of their readership.

2. Will disappoints
As bright as he is, being intellectually dishonest is something I would have thought unnecessary
for him. Maybe the onslaught of uncomfortable (to him, that is) facts was just too much for even
his considerable intellect to refute, and so he resorted to the Republican fallback tactic: if the
truth is not what you want it be, make up another one.
