Kenya poachers admit ivory haul (BBC)
Two men caught with dozens of elephant tusks have pleaded guilty in a Kenyan court to illegal possession of ivory.

The men, a Kenyan and a Tanzanian, were stopped on Saturday near the Tanzanian border. Officials found more than 500kg (1,100 lb) of ivory in their vehicle.

It is one of the largest seizures of ivory in the region for years.

The haul represented an "unspeakable cost to our tourism industry as well as the ecosystems", Kenyan wildlife officials said.

"This is a major setback to efforts by Kenya to recover its elephant population after it dropped from 167,000 in 1963 to the current 33,000," the Kenya Wildlife Service said in a statement.

2. So, in the principle of "Let the punishment fit the crime" ...
... take four elephants, each facing a compass point,
attach four ropes (one to each elephant), ...

3. Why not just hold them down and pull their teeth out?
"Poached Enamel" is so handsome complementing a finely tanned hide of Tyranathropus Rex.

4. Too much like hard work (not to mention time consuming).
Let's face it, we don't want to encourage the sick bastards who might
start liking "poached enamel" (for rarity value or that certain cachet).

In this case, a simple but effective execution (in public pour encourager
les autres) with the minimum of fuss (though definitely not a minimum of mess)
should soon get the message through to the poachers.
