Poll question: How many gas engines do you own?
My lady thinks I've got too many, I say "How many is too many? It's not like I use them all at once."

So How many do you have? Count each car, lawn mower, roto tiller, chainsaw, leaf blower, snow blower, pumps, outboards, inboards, log splitter, generator, Others?

don't drive.. don't really own anything at all. I'll inherit some big things but they don't count for engines.

I definitely own an electric glass grinder and a piano!! :headbang:

19. Just my car. I had to replace the Jetta TDI a week ago
The turbo blew up, the timing belt, door seals and a plastic protector pan under the front axle needed replacing, and a winter servicing and a bunch of other diddly shit needed doing. On a rusting 9-year old vehicle with well over 200,000 kilometers on it, it just wasn't worth it. So now I have a nice 2008 Mazda5. I bus to work, so I guess that counts for a pro-rated part of a motor. But my lawn mower is human powered, and I don't have anything else.

22. Well, if I have to include the boats
nine. But I swear, I haven't touched the chainsaw or the edger in years, and one of the outboards is surplus. As for the lawnmower it was a gift for my wife. You can't ask a 60 year old woman to cut a quarter of an acre of grass with a push mower.

cause I got a butt load of gas engines, all good but most never used anymore. My vehicle of choice of late is my personal built yard buggy powered by two electric motors.

32. Wow, are we counting functional ones only?
Or should I count the boxes of parts and other carcasses in the shop too?
Let's see, theres the two cars. There's the motorcycle, which is seasonal. There's the other motorcycle, which probably shouldn't count untill it actually moves under it's own power. There's the outboard motor, which hasn't been out for four years, as I currently lack a boat to motivate. There's the genset, which hasn't been needed in two years, but is pretty handy when the time comes. There's a chainsaw, which is usefull, and another chainsaw, which is less useful since they stopped making ignition coils for it during the Ford administration.

33. None
I can walk, and I live in a city, so I can also take public transit, or get on a train if I need to go anywhere further away (because I live in a country with a functioning passenger rail system, which is nice).

34. 1/2
My wife and I share a car, a 1997 Honda Accord with 120,000 Km. When she bought it in '99, it had 73,000 so we've only driven it 47,000 km in 10 years.

36. Four vehicles, two or three working at any given time.
One or two growing lichen and leaf mold in the driveway. Shared by four drivers. If you really need a car and no working car is available you have to fix a clunker. They are all clunkers.

We don't have any gas powered toys. Our mower, chainsaw, etc., are electric.

Best Christmas present I handed out this year:

Some guy stressed out by Christmas shopping rear-ended me in a parking lot. As we pulled out of the way he looked very worried that I was going to be pissed. I got out, took a peek at the back of my car and honestly, I couldn't tell the new damage from the old damage. He looked at his car, a newer one, and there was some damage, mostly to his front license plate and the holder, but nothing much, even though I don't want to know what a dealer might charge to fix it. In our house that's what ball peen hammers, bailing wire, and five minute epoxy are for.

While the guy was busy apologizing profusely, getting out his insurance card and whatnot, I smiled and said "I won't say anything if you don't. Merry Christmas!"

He looked so happy and relieved, "Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas!"

He was almost dancing with joy.

40. Leaf blower? Boo hiss! Fossil fuels ---> GHG, noise pollution
I avoid physical labor pretty religiously, but even I would rather raise a few blisters with a rake handle. (If you remember to put on gloves BEFORE you start, you can avoid most of the blisters, too.)
