N.Korea boasts success in nuclear fusion

(AFP) – 1 hour ago

SEOUL — North Korea said Wednesday it has succeeded in nuclear fusion in a "breakthrough" towards the development of new energy sources.

The report in Rodong Sinmun, newspaper of the ruling communist party, made no mention of using the claimed new technology for North Korea's atomic weapons programme.

"The successful nuclear fusion marks a great event that demonstrated the rapidly developing cutting-edge science and technology of the DPRK (North Korea)," the paper said.

It said scientists worldwide were studying nuclear fusion as a way of obtaining "safe and environment-friendly new energy" but the North's experts had worked hard to develop the technology their own way.

1. Let me guess.

The dear leader's energy source probably works something like this:
1) Use fusion bombs on South Korea.
2) Capture their power plants
3) Run some transmission lines up to the North
4) Profit

See fusion power.

2. I put this on about the same level
as the two guys who claimed to have Bigfoot in their beer cooler. I'd bet my last dollar that the most the North Koreans have done is to make a fusion reaction happen by pumping a ton of laser energy into a deuterium/tritium pellet and getting a little burp out. Not very significant, and a long way from practical fusion power generation.

4. I'd like to see hydroponic vertical gardens implemented immediately.
Along with importing of electricity to China and South Korea. Do it N. Korea!
