Is Solar Toxic? Part Two - First Solar's Responsibility to Environmental Protection
Earlier last week, I posted a story exploring the toxicity of Cadmium Telluride (CdTE), an compound used in thin-film solar panels -- http://energyboom.com/solar/solar-toxic-part-one-use-cadmium-telluride

People were asking where part two was. After receiving information from First Solar here is the second part of the story:

In this segment of my assessment of solar power's toxicity, photovoltaic solar giant, First Solar responds to concerns over Cadmium Telluride (CdTe) in photovoltaic solar cells, revealing its initiatives to preserve both the environment and people.

In "Is Solar Toxic? Part One" I provided a brief explanation of what CdTe was, how it worked in thin-film solar, and raised certain questions about potential risks to the environment and people alike. The question still remains, are photovoltaic (PV) solar panels a catastrophe waiting to happen?

According to First Solar -- and I tend to agree with them -- no.
