This Just In!! Environmentalism A Cult "Seducing Your Children" As It Seeks To Control The World!!
Bwa-hahhhahhahhah!!!!!!!!!!

Various conservative Christian leaders have united with the Cornwall Alliance for the release of a shocking new 12-part DVD series, "Resisting The Green Dragon," that attempts to debase and discredit the environmental movement by portraying it as "one of the greatest deceptions of our day" that is "seducing your children" and "striving to put America and the world under its destructive control."

The hyperbolic accusations spewed throughout the video give it the appearance of a ridiculous parody, calling environmentalism "deadly," a "cult" and a "spiritual deception." Unfortunately, the comical PSA is anything but a joke.

In the video, David Barton, founder of WallBuilders, attests that environmentalists' "false assertions are based more on their own morbid pessimistic fears, not on any good science," while the president of the Southern Baptist Convention's Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission, Dr. Richard Land, says, "Environmentalists have a long history of believing and promoting exaggerations and myths" -- statements both so steeped in irony that they are hardly worth parrying.

1. You know, I am sick to death of right wing fundies projecting their shit onto
thinking people. If anything, religion is "false assertions based more on their own morbid pessimistic fears" and they "have a long history of believing and promoting exaggerations and myths".

Good god.

10. The boots are pretty rad
That outfit... you'd need some VERY supportive undergarments unless you wanted to give everyone a show. :P

8. At least some of the religious groups have accepted global warming and climate change.
This is a link to some religious groups that believe that we destroying the planet and need to take action to reverse the trend.

I can't really get behind some of the contents of the various groups, but the environment can use all of the help it can get.

16. Thanks for the link.
I wish that more people would heed warnings such as the ones in his address.

I'm afraid that by the time more people do wake up to the facts, it's probably going to be a little late in the game to mount a comeback.

17. That is something that should be bounced straight back at the so-called Christians ...
... who choose to plunder the Earth rather than care for it.

> United Nations Bali Climate Change conference, Dr Williams says that
> a purely acquisitive approach to the physical world goes against
> Christian ethical principles:
> "The more we see the created order simply in relation to our own wants,
> our own needs, let alone our own greed and acquisitiveness, the further
> away we are from God."

His other comments (e.g., on justice across generations, poorest societies,
sacrifices to be made) are good but his start (above) and finish (below)
are just excellent. It doesn't even matter what religion (if any) you hold as
an individual as the word "Christians" in this phrase can (and should) be
substituted by the word "people":

> ... letting go of some of our obsession about security , prosperity and
> success in order that the whole world may live, in order that the whole
> human family may flourish, that is something which Christians ought to be
> underlining as strongly as they possibly can.

*THAT* is the message that should be bounced back in the face of the damn
Dominionists who call themselves "Christian" without understanding a single
word in the Bible.
