US Government Will "Strongly Resist" EU Plan To Cut Aviation Emissions - Reuters
WASHINGTON - The Bush administration will strongly resist a European proposal to make foreign airlines pay a premium for aircraft emissions, US Transportation Secretary Mary Peters said on Friday.

Peters told a US House of Representatives hearing that the European Union carbon emissions trading initiative would unilaterally impose extra costs on US and other overseas airlines that fly to Europe.
"We do intend to push back very hard on the EU on this," Peters said.
