China slams US arms sales to Taiwan
REUTERS , BEIJING

China reiterated its opposition to US weapons sales to Taiwan yesterday, as officials from Taiwan lobbied Washington for a multi-billion-dollar weapons package.

"We express serious concerns over the US' recent trends of continuous selling advanced arms to Taiwan," Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Zhang Qiyue (???) said in a statement carried on the ministry's Web site, www.fmprc.gov.cn.

"Our stance of opposing US arms sales to Taiwan is consistent and clear.
