A bad day for republican founded, republican led, republican benefitting bradys.
Nordyke.

And there was this:

http://washingtontimes.com/photos/2009/apr/06/1713/

"About 100 supporters of a bill tightening Virginia gun control staged a lie-in on the Capitol lawn, but were outnumbered 3-1 yesterday by opponents who wielded signs declaring "Here Lie Disarmed Victims."

Then theres this in Op-ed news:

2A All the Way

by Rady Ananda Page 1 of 1 page(s)

"Because this essay sparked strong reaction, OEN owner Rob Kall has convinced me that I could better make my case for Second Amendment advocacy if I clarified my position from a progressive viewpoint. I am a progressive populist. As a progressive, I value, work toward, and believe in an ever-expanding recognition of equality for all peoples. I have no tolerance for intolerance. Owning personal firearms levels the playing field somewhat for those most vulnerable to abuse: women, the elderly, the poor, and the handicapped. I'm a populist because I feel no allegiance to or from elites. Instead, I fear the vast expansion of governmental power over the past decade, at the expense of the Rule of Law, and at the expense of basic human rights -- particularly the 800-year-old Magna Carta provision for habeas corpus. 2A advocacy is an egalitarian issue. ~ RA"

Gun rights are neither liberal nor conservative, feminist nor patriarchal, Democrat nor Republican, Left nor Right. Gun rights are populist at their core, in defense against government tyranny at their widest application, and in self-defense at their most personal application.

The debate over gun rights is vast and well-documented. The basic arguments for an armed citizenry are:

To maintain political order and prevent tyranny;
To protect community from outside invasion;
Personal defense and crime prevention; and
Sport and hunting.

The basic arguments against an armed populace ignore history or adopt a Pollyanna view toward government. Plenty of folks, on the Right and on the Left, and those in-between, recognize the value of preventive armament. We recognize that bipartisan-passed legislation over the past nine years strips US citizens of their sovereignty and destroys the Bill of Rights. (All this legislation, because it's unconstitutional, is void, in my non-legal opinion.)

And last but not least, ABC is getting taken to task:

Kids and guns part 1

Kiids and guns part 2

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HTNJ9BycF94&feature=player_embedded

These are MUST SEE videos folks, about the lengths ABC is willing to go to spew brady garbage. After seeing them, I don't really think any anti has a leg to stand on where the nra is concerned.

A bad day indeed, for those in the republican founded, republican led, republican benefitting brady bunch camp.

2. Oh, I don't know...
Even the nra doesn't stoop quite as low as ABC did, with its brady-esque hitpiece.

Watch the videos if you don't believe it.

7. Excellent post beevul
They named those "Lie-ins" perfectly didn't they?!!

Next time those treasonous "people" come to Blacksburg, and pull another one, I am soooooooo tempted to drive the old truck we use on for farm work...

The big ol F250 with the 460 engine, that badly needs a tune up, and mufflers.....

I would LOVE to be sitting in the parking lot, nearby, when they all lay down, so I could flood the engine with gasoline, start it for about 3 seconds, and rapidly turn the key "on and off" a few times, while holding the gas pedal to the floor!!!

I always wondered if Republican's crapped their beds, to account for that vile smell, after that exercise, we would know for certain if they could crap, when lying down!

Will anyone volunteer to hold the camera?? I am certain it would go viral on YouTube.

What would we call it?? "Brown note played at anti-civil rights rally"

8. Interesting that a group exercises it's right to freedom of speech to lie in support of prohibiting
another right, the natural, inherent, inalienable/unalienable right to keep and bear arms for defense of self.

SCOTUS says:
"c. Meaning of the Operative Clause. Putting all of
these textual elements together, we find that they guarantee
the individual right to possess and carry weapons in
case of confrontation. This meaning is strongly confirmed
by the historical background of the Second Amendment.
We look to this because it has always been widely understood
that the Second Amendment, like the First and
Fourth Amendments, codified a pre-existing right.
The
very text of the Second Amendment implicitly recognizes
the pre-existence of the right and declares only that it
“shall not be infringed.” As we said in United States v.
Cruikshank, 92 U. S. 542, 553 (1876), “{t}his is not a right
granted by the Constitution. Neither is it in any manner
dependent upon that instrument for its existence.
The
Second amendment declares that it shall not be infringed
. . . .”16

9. Jody, at the "lie in" I attended last year, some of these sanctimonious
Edited on Wed Apr-22-09 12:52 AM by virginia mountainman
assholes started singing "We shall Overcome" in the most gawd awful tone DEAF manor..

The "loud one" heard someone "down the road" laugh a little bit, and she started screeching "HOW DARE YOU" ROFLMAO....

It was too much to bear....

I am certain their is video of the event...I will see if I can dig it up....

EDIT, found it over at "Pro gun Progressive"

http://progunprogressive.com/?p=834

Why were people laughing? Because comparing your efforts to deny us a basic civil right (a right the KKK and post Civil War racists tried quite hard to deny freed slaves, and a right Jim Crow tried and still does try to deny minorities to this day) to the struggle of 1960s era Civil Rights workers is goddamn laughable.

All those armed pro-gun rights protesters standing around, all with their sidearms…and yet no one was shot. Go figure

BTW, yours truly was their.....But, I was not right "their"...I was talking to a bit away from their legislators, but I heard her shrieking "How Dare you!"..... I also remember from the event, just how RUDE these "people" where, the collage age "kids" that where with them, played "grab ass" right in front of State Legislators, and then expected to be taken seriously. One of those Anti-civil rights people, tried to "correct" a state senator on a point of law, in a VERY rude way, and was called on the carpet for it...

Also, we had them heavily outnumbered, their where several hundred of us!! Even more impressive to learn that many of the "kids" where not even residents of the state...But hey, anything goes when you have no shame.

We ended up getting many new pieces of pro-gun legislation passed, and too the govners desk, and their, never made it to the floor for a vote..
