1. Very sad. And it was a neighbor who was
target shooting. A guy has to wonder why he shot towards the guy's house, though. Perhaps beer was involved...always a mistake.

2. Sad
Why people do not stop and think of the rules of safety is beyond me. You have to know what your target is, AND what is beyond your target. You have to know that your bullet might go through the target and continue to travel. I would be interested to know what the results of the investigation were.

3. Violation of Rule 4.
Know your target, what is behind it, and what is beyond it.

.45 ACP has a fairly short range. The shooter could probably see the house he was shooting towards.

4. Is there a point you are trying to make
In all of these shooting posts or are you just trolling? Usually one would make a point in their post. You are making no point.

5. Someone's Trolling
This is akin to visiting a cooking forum and posting a bunch of threads where knives were used to kill people....

6. The point
Our colleague is trying to show is that horrible accidents can happen when you handle firearms improperly. On other posts that tragedy can occur when people with bad intentions handle firearms. We need to redouble our efforts to make sure eveyone remembers their safety information and that the existing laws are enforced to keep firearms out of the hands of criminals and unstable people, while stable, law abiding citizens maintain the right to own and carry firearms to protect our lives and those of our loved ones from those who would threaten them. Also, we need to expand public services to include more counseling and conflict resolution training to decrease the frequency with which people use violence to deal with their problems, although I am sure that when there is a person who would break into your home in the middle of the night inside your home, our thoughtful colleague would admit that conflict resolution training would not keep you safe, but a reliable firearm and training on its use would give you a good chance at defeating the threat.

At least, that is what I gleaned... :toast:
