CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - A bill that would allow Wyoming residents to carry handguns without securing state permits has moved through its first committee.

The House Judiciary Committee on Tuesday voted 6-2 to recommend approval of House Bill 113 after a testimony by spokesmen from pro-gun groups and other supporters.

The bill would allow any adult citizen of Wyoming to carry a concealed weapon without needing a state permit.

A person carrying must be 21, not have an infirmity that would prevent safe handling of a gun, no felony convictions, not addicted to alcohol.

The permit system is retained for those who wish to travel to other states under reciprocity.

If passed and signed, Wyoming would joing Alaska and Vermont in allowing concealed carry without a permit.

3. Lets hope this crazy bill dies in the House
Carry without a permit? Are you kidding me? We should be restricting firearms in our country, not expanding so called "rights" of those who choose to own them.

5. Your just
going to have to accept that us 2nd amend rights people are winning and winning big. Even Pres. Obama has given up on gun control as has most of the Dem Pols because they know it is a losing issue for them as poll after poll has shown that the vast majority of law abiding americans don't believe what you believe and that is total gun confiscation

10. Yep, just look at the slaughterhouse that is Vermont (which has a similar law)
Why, Burlington is known as "Mogadishu On The Lake"!

Well, no, not really. But feel free to reject any empirical evidence that doesn't agree with your prejudice...

13. While I favor training, Vermont has been doing as Wyoming for years...
no real harm has come of it. I am curious about no "addiction to alcohol" only because it seems to exclude any "addiction" to marijuana, which is specifically mentioned in the federal NICS form when you purchase a firearm from an FFL dealer.

8. Yup
I love my porn, guns, but not drugs as the city of Las Vegas takes a dim view of drug use and I do get tested:sarcasm:

9. I have mixed feelings.
I don't think anybody I know will start packing heat in public. And statewide bans on firearms in taverns and government buildings will still apply, I hope. Guess I should read the bill on legisweb.
