Man charged with pulling gun on pilot's relatives

"Renee Campbell, sister of James Willprecht, who died Wednesday when his plane crashed west of the Wilderness Trails subdivision in Friendswood, and her husband, Peter, had parked their truck in a driveway in the 30 block of Wilderness Trail."

"When the couple returned to their truck about 2:50 p.m., a man who was riding a John Deere lawn mower approached the Campbells and yelled at them to get their truck off his property. When Peter Campbell explained why they had parked there, the man pulled a gun from his shorts."

Agricultural implements empowered him to take the law into his own hands. I wonder how his azaleas are doing while he's in lockdown.

Seriously, the guy sounds more than a wee bit crazy. What this nation is sorely lacking these days is manners and patience. You don't shoot someone for blocking your driveway, even in Texas. The guy was wrong for blocking the driveway but for someone to escalate it to deadly force is just insane. The proper solution to this problem is for him to get arrested and charged with a felony. That'll cure the gun problem with him unless he's dumb enough to keep on keeping on. "Breaking rocks in the hot sun, I fought the law and the law won".

ETA: The proper response for the land owner would have been to "borrow" his neighbors pit bull and chain it to the truck. Don't ask me how I know this.

5. I had something similar happen to me several years ago.

I was lost in a somewhat rural Chicago far south suburb when I decided to turn around in a driveway. Before I could get the car in reverse to back out, some asshole with what seemed to be the largest handgun in the world, came from behind an outbuilding and started screaming and waiving his gun at me.

I always wondered what was going on in his head. I wondered, that is, until I found this gem of a DU gungeon forum. I wonder which "righteous shoot" popgun fan will defend farmer Brown's actions in the OP.

condemn this behavior, but it's easy for anti-gun people to jump on a story like this, while completely ignoring successful self-defense with a gun without a shot being fired.
