And I must point out the "then shot again" part just got a pharmacist in Oklahoma sentenced to 1st degree murder.

1. He fucked it up anyway - it is SUPPOSED to read "Survivors will be shot again."
He must have been wasted at the time - the first "shot" looks like "soot".

With no shirt on wearing a belt not through his belt loops just around his waist and wearing a gun on size belt. People like that make legal safe gun owners look like red necks. Lol

But I don't know about the legality of riding without a helmet there. Riding without a shirt/jacket is absolutely dumb.

Oh well, stupid is a terminal disease.

3. One of the reasons that private ownership of firearms is a good idea ...
is for those times when a natural disaster such as a hurricane occurs and you find yourself in a situation where you are the only person who can defend your family.

While most people rally together in such emergencies often the disaster brings out a few who hope to rob, rape and pillage while they have the opportunity.

I agree the wording of the sign is questionable but it does serve as a warning. My father didn't own firearms when I was growing up but I remember he posted a "Trespassers will be shot" sign on our garage and workshop.

14. That picture is from the recent floods.
Lots of stuff that is valuable can survive being flooded. Hand tools usually come through OK. Plus the families will carry valuables such as jewelry when they leave, then bring it back when they return.

It's nice to see so many "progressives" that think his ruined home is a "shithole" and something to be made fun of.

I'm guessing he can't count on the police to protect what little he and his family may have left.

But if he's a gun owner I guess it's OK to make fun of him for some people here.

He goes back and grabs a 2nd gun and shoots a unconscious UNARMED man five times in the stomach.

And people hear that story and think all CCW holders are that careless and stupid.

The threat was over. He had no justified reason to shoot him five more times.

The first shot was a good shot, the last 5 were murder!

See, he's rural, and he's trying to take care of himself.

Why, he's going against everything that some people want society to be. If a person can take care of themselves, why, that obviates the need for all the nannyism they want.

Self-reliance? That's anathema to them.

I was trying to indicate that it may well be simple humorous hyperbole.

Seeing as how his entire life just got friggen' devastated, I'd cut him a fair amount of slack before getting hysterical about how this makes you look bad.

Something everyone here would do well to remember: It's not always about you.

16. Following Hurricane Ike, one of the neighbors spray-painted the outside of their fence
along the main thoroughfare in day-glo green, "Crazy lady with loaded shotgun. Trespass at your own risk."
It was up for a good six months until the homeowner's association hired a professional painter to paint her fence and then sent her the bill.

dressed up, as she imagined Tom Sawyer would and laughed at them "whitewarshing" her fence. The HOA board, was not amused and the looks on their faces looked they'd swallowed something particularly noxious. The board is a concentrated collection of the nosiest biddies and most clueless assholes I've ever seen...so it was good old fashioned entertainment so far as I was concerned.

I spoke to her briefly afterward and she said that before the storm, she'd been looking to paint it anyway, and the bill was lower than the quote she'd gotten. And now that she knew what would tick them off, when it got a bit shabby looking, she'd do it again.

56. "Dirty Harry" was a San Francisco police detective.
Edited on Sun Jun-12-11 07:37 AM by benEzra
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dirty_Harry

The character was an early example of the "badass cop who doesn't play by the rules and it's somehow supposed to be OK" genre, like Jack Bauer, or Alberto Gonzales.

This pic, on the other hand, is of a middle aged, (possibly) lower middle class man whose life was just dealt a devastating blow, and I somehow doubt he has gold-plated insurance and a huge stock portfolio to make it all better.

If other houses have been gutted of valuables, I'd say his message was 100% warranted.

If only some in the neighborhood have been gutted I'd also support the message.

If there'd been no looting going on at all? I'd put up the paranoia flag. However, I still don't see that putting such a message up on your own property is a problem.
