Cook's wife blames gun owner for shooting

The wife of defendant Kenneth Cook today identified the gunman who killed Charles Duty in 1992 as the owner of the black powder pistol, not her husband.

But later today, another witness told a Shawnee County District Court jury that Elizabeth Cook, the defendant's wife, confided to him that her husband fatally shot Duty.

Kenneth Cook, 47, is charged with premeditated first-degree murder in the Sept. 7, 1992, shooting death of Duty, 33, whose tattoos were cut off and whose teeth were pulled before his body was weighted and sunk in the Wakarusa River.
