3rd grader threatens classmates with knife and paper clip.
Damn things should be registered or at least require some sort of "child safety lock"

Child returns to class after making knife threats

By CHARLES A. PETERSON
Advocate Reporter

GRANVILLE -- A third-grader who allegedly threatened fellow classmates with a small knife from a child's science kit is back in class at Granville Elementary School.

The student, who was suspended after he brought a knife to school on May 10, is accused in a Granville police report of threatening four students.

The report was to be handed over to the Licking County Prosecutor's Office this week to determine if charges should be filed, Police Chief Steve Cartnal said.

The report was filed May 20 by a parent of one of the alleged victims. She claims that the student pulled her son and a friend aside at school and stuck the knife to her son's throat, stating that he would kill him if he told anyone he had the knife.

The report also states that on a school bus earlier that day, the student had shown the knife to another student and later told two students not to tell anyone about the knife, threatening them with a paper clip.

2. What kind of charges will they bring against a third grader?
He's eight years old. Is he gonna do hard time in the slammer? Maybe they'll send him to Abu Ghraib for interrogation. He's obviously a terrorist and hell, there's no Miranda rights for Americans in military custody so we should be able to extract some usefull information from this kid.

4. Your powers of sarcasm astound me.......
So you're implying that:

As an 8 year old can get hold of a knife (a dangerous weapon) therefore it doesn't matter if he could get hold of a gun?

Seriously, what point are you trying to make here? That the world is a dangerous place, and we should just accept that and not attempt to make it any safer at all?

Do you believe that having this knife represented the same risk level as if he'd had a gun?

Or do you think that the deliberate misuse of a knife from a science kit (which is a key piece of school equipment) is equally as bad as if he'd brought his dad's 9mm into school?

Seriously - what is your point here?

Incidentally - "Licking County"? Crazy name, crazy place...
