4. Good point.
Why should I even give a flying rat's ass who sits on the NRA board? There has GOT to be something more important to worry about.

3. I think Grover Norquist might be gay.
Seriously...I heard him on the radio spouting off about how much more worthy Reagan is than Hamilton to be on the $10 bill (he even threw in the classless "at least we know Reagan was a better shot"), and he sure sounded flamboyant about it.

OK, I'm sure this will be construed by the thin-skinned here as an attack on gays (which it's not). But Norquist sure sounds gay to me. And that's an awfully gay name.

5. What does gay have to do with this discussion?
And why is his sexual orientation even open for discussion?

7. Everything is open for discussion here
If Norquist happens to be homosexual it would make for some interesting explorations of hypocrisy coming from all sides.

However, I really don't think his sexual orientation is relevant.

9. I knew it would be misconstrued.
I had never heard Norquist speak prior to this whole Reagan $10 bill "debate" a few days ago. The guy sounds gay in my opinion.

I didn't mean for his sexual orientation to be open for debate or ridicule. But Slack is right...if it were the case, it would open a Pandora's Box of (further) hypocrisy on the Right.

But I was just making an observation on how the guy speaks. Sorry if it was taken the wrong way.

I'm not sure why so many gay men have that manner of speaking but they do seem to sound "gay".

Whether one of them is gay is the big topic.
Hell Karl Malone is the dirtiest player in the history of the NBA.

32. This a Freuedian slip for gunmongers
Actually "Pink Pistols" is as well. The NRA astroturf boys were scared to combine guns and gays together so they came up with this bullshit moniker. A real grassroots gay organization wouldn't have such an obviously phony name

37. The name" Pink Pistols" sounds imposed like most astroturf organizations
Rainbow Rifle Association, maybe. Now that I think of it, "Second amendment sisters" sounds imposed as well. The little sister organization. Moms have power. Even Emperors mind their moms. I t would be interesting to know the real historys of these organizations. I bet they're as phony as the Iraqi governing council.

11. John Kerry singled these animals out in his announcement speech
Edited on Sat Jun-12-04 07:12 PM by billbuckhead
Basically the NRA are the RepubliKKKans brownshirts. Gun deaths are a 9-11 every month here in America. Gun regulation in other advanced nations has shown that a free society doesn't need everyone carrying a gun. If guns made people free, Afghanistan would be the freest place in world and Sweden would be a Gulag. Here in America you can compare Massachussetts or Hawaii's murder rate with any other state with a least one city over 500,000 and the differences are obvious.

Besides Grover Norquist is always in the news as the RepubliKKKan poster child.

12. Sorry bud, guns don't cause crime
If you really cared about reducing crime and violence, you should go out there and advocate ending the war on drugs and reducing unemployment and poverty.

Your correlative statistics are easily rebutted with other correlative statistics that show the opposite trend. Bottom line is, gun don't make much of a difference either way (look up recent CDC report about this). Disarming the populace, however, does make it easier for them to be controlled by the government who, of course, will always be armed. Is that what you want?

15. So you can prove positively that increasing the availibilty of guns doesnt
increase the number of murders in similar nations? Hell the only exceptions you guys can come up with are Switzerland and Washington D.C., two of the weirdest places in the world that sort of are the exceptions that prove the rule. EVERY SINGLE EU NATION HAS MULTIPLES LESS MURDER. Japan has virtually no murders by gun. Australia changed it's laws and the murder rate has went down. One has to have a learning disabilty not to see a correllation.

20. I voted for Karl Malone because
I believe that the NBA needs to be stopped. Anyone who dares tie Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's record of consecutive seasons scoring over 20 points per game is a public saftey menace. Malone is also threatening to tie Abdul-Jabbar for all time minutes played and all time points scored. This must not happen! Therefore I say the government must step in and do something about these threats to Abdul-Jabbar's milestones. The NBA is doing nothing to preserve the legacy of Abdul-Jabbar. They are obviously turning a deaf ear to the plight of Abdul-Jabbar fans nationwide.

Oh, you meant NRA.

Nevermind.

(With apologies to the late great Gilda Radner)

Is there any national figure who is fighting against the AWB who is not a nut? Tom DeLay? Grover Norquist? Name a respectable Democrat or even a Republican who is against the assault weapons ban? Orrin Hatch?

if you don't like the fact that you are represented by an idiot, then you shouldn't let him be your leader. (I think Thomas Jefferson said that first)

29. There's nothing we can do for the delusional.
They're drinking the same Kool-Aid as the Bush supporters.

Ted Nugent is a moron. I don't think anyone here "looks up" to him, or any of the other NRA board members for that matter. We have formed our opinions on guns independently of activist groups...I don't see why that's so hard to understand. You don't have to be in the NRA to support individual RKBA.

I tore up my NRA membership about three years ago. In spite of their top-notch gun safety and training programs, I got tired of my dues going toward putting asshole neo-con Republicans into office. I decided that my money was better spent donating to candidates directly who support my views on guns, along with other issues.
