Hurray for the war on drugs.

Thanks to the war on drugs police are free to harass students, throw them on the ground, handcuff them, and point weapons at them.

1. Oh that is so wrong.
I cannot believe that is the new precident.

I saw that video, and if they did that to my kids I would absolutely lose it.

Homeschooling here we come.

Though I hear that can get you put on certain lists as well.

Where the hell is this country headed?

4. If this happened to my kids
The school would have one very pissed Army dad so far up their asses they could taste the Kiwi on my boots. I would sue everyone in sight. In short, I would have them wrapped up in so much legal tape that they would crap red for years.

This is still America. The Bush government seems to believe that Police state = Freedom...I quess since kids dont vote, we can abuse them?

Wrongo!

Also, these are the same guys that are gonna eventually try to come for my guns, and every other legal gun owners weapons.....armed citizenry makes it too dangerous for them to operate.

6. I remember some of those parents were interviewed after all that
happened and some said that they did not mind their kids being harassed like that if it means "for the better of the community"... I wanted to throw up. I think a civics class should be mandatory for all seniors before they get out of highschool. This is really sick.

7. Funny, when this happened
the ACLU spoke up (pro-gun-control)....Jesse Jackson (pro-gun-control) spoke up....

Wonder how many of those "freedom loving" gun groups spoke up? It's not like there's any shortage of them in South Carolina, after all.

11. Indeed
They proably were to busy speaking out against gun control, to get involved in a non-gun control issue.

10. This isnt a gun control issue.
Theres alot of things to bitch about here, but gun control, or lack of it played no part in this horrible event.

The ACLU covers alot of ground, including being opposed to the RKBA.

Most pro gun groups are largely single issue and thats why they didnt get involved.

Nonethless, I bet you would be hard pressed to find a pro-rkba individual who feels that the police were right here in treating these kids this way.

So, I was curious ... and I asked google for nra "goose creek" students ... and I found

http://www.nraila.org/News/Read/InTheNews.aspx?ID=3258

Zero Patience For Zero Tolerance

News shows recently showed video of 14 police officers charging a crowded high-school corridor with guns drawn in a drug sweep. Students at Stratford Creek High School in Goose Creek, S.C., were forced onto their knees or against walls, while dogs sniffed their backpacks for drugs. None were found. Although the incident was extreme, it was not an aberration but the logical consequences of "zero tolerance" policies, defended by both the school and the police.
Interesting spin, no?

Methinks that the ACLU and Jesse Jackson weren't quite calling for loosening the rules on firearms in schools ... and I can't think of what else the NRA would be on about.

(edit -- oh look, we've just been assured that the NRA doesn't get involved in non-gun-related issues, so I guess I was right.)

Some unknown soldier's comment on the story:

http://www.kimberlyswygert.com/archives/001569.html

My NRA training told me to never draw a weapon unless I was prepared to put a slug right in the center of mass RIGHT THAT SECOND. I was taught to PRESUME a drawn weapon to be a deadly threat, and to respond IMMEDIATELY to such a threat by putting two in the chest and one in the head.
Funny how many people do confuse themselves with cops.

15. Get them used to the police state while their young
Well they did it at my middle and high school, so why would I object to them coming into my neighborhood?

They are just trying to PROTECT us....
