1. Joy! Pure happiness.
I despised the AWB from inception. I'm delighted that it's gone. May it never return.

2. there was such a beautiful sunset...
And now, it's twilight time for a silly law that cost us our majority in Congress. Even just for that alone I'm thrilled to see it go...

Heavenly shades of night are falling
It's twilight time
Out of the mist your voice is calling
It's twilight time
When purple colored curtains
Mark the end of the day
I hear you my dear at twilight time

Deepening shadows gather splendor
As day is done
Fingers of night will soon surrender
The setting sun
I count the moments darling
Till you're here with me
Together at last at twilight time

Rifle and bayonet lug, together at last...

;)

25. if poésie be the order of the day ...
They shall grow not old,
as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them,
nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun
and in the morning
We will remember them.

It's generally spoken in honour of those who died in wars, but what the heck. I imagine there are some people who died of being shot by legally-purchased assault weapons who might be worth remembering just now.

As for that "a silly law that cost us our majority in Congress", I can only imagine that if I lived in a place where people voted against, oh, accessible health care, in favour of accessible assault weapons, I'd buy one and shoot myself.

But then, I'd first have to believe that any significant number of actual people actually did any such thing ...

How will this effect hi-cap mags?
Do you think the price will go down for factory mags, or will the price stay high, just because the consumer is used to it?

8. I could theoretically acquire those legally in Cali
I'd have to buy replacement magazine bodies for magazines I already own, and assemble them with other parts in a manner that does not increase the number of magazines I possess.

Time to shop for magazine repair kits...

Before the ban took effect.

I even bought magazines for guns I didn't own at the time.

I've never paid a drastically inflated price for any gun, gun part, or accessory.

19. The next step...
I believe the next step should be to repeal the restriction on interstate purchase of handguns from licensed firearms dealers. I live in southwestern Ohio. I can purchase a rifle or shotgun from a dealer in northern Kentucky or Indiana, but I can't purchase a handgun from a KY dealer 10 miles from my house. The restriction dates from the Gun Control Act of 1968, but became superfluous with the advent of the national instant check system. If you pass the background check, why not allow the interstate sale.

16. I'm putting my employer's money where my mouth is
I've arranged for about 15 people in my company's IS department to spend an afternoon at an indoor target range. I've only been there for two months, and had the gall to suggest that as our annual "team building" event.

The range - http://www.gotammo.com - is giving us a corporate package deal. They're going to supply a catered lunch, a gun safety lecture and demonstration, and a Range Safety Officer dedicated to our group for two hours of trigger time. We will get to try out several different kinds of handguns and plenty of ammunition.

About 2/3 of the participants have never fired a gun before. But several others, including my immediate supervisor, are pro-RKBA.

How's THAT for encouraging gun safety?

14. Prediction
We will have a new and improved AWB bill proposed by April, May at the latest. And it will pass.

I dont plan on buying anything (substantial value) till next year, and I recommend you all do the same. Why add to the consumer spending numbers now? Wait till next year when it cant help Bush, or hurt Kerry. We've waited 10 years, a few more months wont kill us. And I would just feel alot more comfortable with asscrossed out of a job when I buy anything "they" can find out about.

As opposed to the MILLIONS that were already grandfathered? Like the box full of new in wrap (early 1994 production) military contract (overrun) M-16/AR-15 magazines I bought last year?

Magazines were never really the problem. If you had the money, there were mags to be had.

66. Really?
I didn't realize a normal cap magazine was so deadly! How does a magazine mow you down anyway?

Ok, all semantic joking aside, numerous studies have shown that mag capacity restrictions have failed to reduce the average number of victims per shooting incident. Oddly enough, the average is actually higher for revolvers (which have a fixed, usually low, ammo capacity) than it is for semi-auto pistols. Go figure...

36. Kerry re AWB: "Police will face military-style machine guns"
Edited on Mon Sep-13-04 04:17 PM by Renaissance
What an unbelievable ignorant statement by John Kerry regarding the AWB sunset today. I heard the audio clip on the radio on the way home from work. He claimed that because the AWB has lapsed, police officers will now be faced with "military-style machine guns."

I swear to God I am not making this up.

46. How exactly did the ban prevent machine gun crime?
According to Kerry, now police officers are going to be faced with "military-style machine guns" (his own words). Exactly how does a sunset on the ban of semi-automatic weapons cause more criminals to use machine guns?

On this particular issue, Kerry seems to be exceptionally ignorant.

37. I don't know. I'm starting to rethink the ban.
According to the local news tonight, no one has been killed with a semi-automatic weapon in New Haven, CT in three years, apparently thanks to the AWB. I'm not sure I should trust that claim, though, since they apparently believe the ban is in effect until tomorrow.

44. CT is may issue.
They get to decide if you're a "suitable" person before they give you a permit.

Shouldn't there have been blood in the streets, anyway?

You'd think so, but apparently no one has used a semi-auto to kill anyone in New Haven since a drive-by way back in 2001. I guess New Haven criminals prefer other weapons. Maybe they're all members of the single action shooting society.

And I thought CT had its own ban?

Yeah CT basically copied the Federal AWB with a few extra guns listed by name. The CT AWB also includes machine guns if they're select fire, but not if they're full auto only.

64. Well, from what I understand,
and I've never been through the process, nor do I plan to, it works more or less like a shall issue system, but the law does contain some vague stuff about suitability in addition to the usual age requirements and not a criminal requirements. I don't know how often, if ever, people are denied permits based solely on the suitability thing.

Here's the law if you're interested:

http://www.cga.state.ct.us/2003/pub/Chap529.htm#Sec29-28.htm

That's what I meant by "blood in the streets" - the CCW angle

I got it, I was just clarifying CT's CCW law. I guess the federal AWB was stopping people with carry permits from shooting up the place. Now we're really screwed.

Patriotic, slam-fire, Tac light, feeling pretty
wiped

It's the end of the world as we know it
It's the end of the world as we know it
It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine

Six o'clock - TV hour. Don't get caught with carry
Power. Fire and burn, return, listen to the rounds
burn. Locking in, uniforming, and book burning, blood
Letting. NRA degenerate, Firearm incinerate
Light a candle, light a motive. Crack down, Crack down
Watch your heel crush, crushed, uh-oh, this means no
Fear sniper-gear. Renegade steer clear! A tournament,
a Tournament, a tournament of lies. Offer me solutions,
Offer me alternatives and I decline

It's the end of the world as we know it
It's the end of the world as we know it
It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine (it's time I had some
time alone)

And I feel fine

I feel fine

It's the end of the world as we know it (it's time I had some time alone)
It's the end of the world as we know it (it's time I had some time alone)
It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine (it's time I had some
time alone)

And I feel fine

The other night I dreamt of knives, along with
guns taking lives. Gun controllers in a line, Diane
Feinstein. Rosie o'Donnel, Sara B and Kristen Rand.
Birthday party, pistol-grip, Bayo-lug, boom! You
Symbiotic, patriotic, Mc - veigh clone, right? Right

It's the end of the world as we know it (it's time I had some time alone)
It's the end of the world as we know it (it's time I had some time alone)
It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine (it's time I had some
time alone)

And I feel fine

It's the end of the world as we know it
It's the end of the world as we know it
It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine (it's time I had some
time alone)

And I feel fine

It's the end of the world as we know it (it's time I had some time alone)
It's the end of the world as we know it (it's time I had some time alone)
It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine (it's time I had some
time alone)

And I feel fine

It's the end of the world as we know it (it's time I had some time alone)
It's the end of the world as we know it (it's time I had some time alone)
It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine (it's time I had some

for two hundred bucks.

Assault weapons ban
has expired at long last

I'm ready to defend my

Gun laws come and go
I still wish we had Congress
