My wife tolerates my gun habits quite well, she even owns a couple herself. She is not as into it as I am, but never objects to my habit.

1. I taught my wife how to shoot, turns out she's a damn good shot

2. I don't object to guns

my husband had several however, I did mandate trigger locks. After he died I gave them to his brother. We have an 11 yr old son and now that there is no male role model in the home, I felt it may be too much of a temptation for him as he enters puberty. If he wants to learn to shoot or hunt he can learn from his grandfather who has a nice collection of hunting rifles and pistols.

Something from his dad's collection that he can call "dads". I have a couple from my dad that I cherish and consider the most valuable possessions I have. Senitimental value, not dollars.

3. No poll?

I got my wife into it after some time. She used to be anti-gun=afraid of them. She is still apprehensive about some of my rifles and one of my shotguns but she is getting more comfortable every day.

She doesnt have any of her own, yet, but I plan on buying her a shotgun next year.

7. from "tolerance" to acceptance

My wife was a Brady talking points repeater when I met her.

After several discussions on the merits of those talking points, she eventually turned neutral on firearms ownership. At least enough to get married to me. . .

She doesn't always agree with me on every single issue, but each time that BuschCoInc comes up with some crackpot Handmaid's Tale-esque policy (seemingly every day) she is glad we have access to self-defense knowledge.

I'm a veritable RKBAer in comparison.

Of course, I understand him to be speaking in hyperbole, and merely voicing his extreme distaste for the things and the people who love 'em. If I sit him down and explain the cultural, economic and Aboriginal rights involved (our duties are divided between cooking (me) and cleaning (him), and theory (me) and facts (him)), I'm sure he'll see the light.

Many decades ago, when I was a participant in the campus Model Parliament, the visiting important person who was acting as Speaker decided that a lesson in decorum was called for, and instructed the Members to stop speaking directly to one another and address the Speaker, referring to one another only as "he, they or it".

I was a little shy in those days, so I didn't immediately spring to my feet on a point of privilege, as I wanted to do, and demand to know why he was suggesting that the lady Members be referred to as "it".

So today we have "wife/SO". Evidently, each and every one of the women participants in this discussion is living in sin, and is bereft of husband.

Either that, or the question was designed by someone who was addressing only men, eh?

Perhaps "spouse" is the word that was wanted.

12. Told ya I'd pop in occasionally.

My wife probably owns as many firearms as I do. I'm better with handguns and shotguns. She edges me out with rifles up to 100 yards. I win most everything beyond that. I hunt. She doesn't. We both target shoot. We both shoot clays.

She's warmed up to me owning them you might say over the years. She doesn't shoot but said she might some day.

17. When I met

my wife she was terrified of guns. She thought that it would fire on its own but I gradually convinced her otherwise and now she even sometimes is better than me at the range.

18. My first post ever

She was curious at first. I took her to the range and had a safety accident. She still went shooting afterwards, and that says a lot.

The accident's circumstance was quite rare. I had a hangfire that lasted about 30 seconds. I was recocking the hammer to restrike the bullet when the round went off crushing my thumb between the slide and the hammer. My mother was the one needing consolation after that incident.
