Went to a gun auction today
Got a couple of good deals.

Picked up a Stevens 12 ga coach gun with exposed hammers, a Weatherby MK V in .300 Win Mag, a Mossberg 500 defender, (another) Norinco SKS, and (another) Norinco MAK 90. The really good part? I spent under $1,000.00! Evidently some folks just didn't know what was being sold or were too broke to bid.

I did miss out on an SKB O/U 12 gauge and a Perazzi O/U 12 gauge. they were a litle rich for my blood. One went for over $2,000.00 and the other went for almost $5,000.00. Both were bargains. I just didn't have the scratch. Same with the Beretta Cougars in 9MM and .40. Guess I'll have to bid another day.

Can't win 'em all.

1. How many hands do you have?
Speaking for myself, I only have two, which drastically limits my ability to effectively use more than one rifle/shotgun at any given time, so owning a whole whack of them strikes me as pretty pointless...

2.  collecting beanie babies is pointless too
but people do it. Don't begrudge anyone his/her hobby. Especially collecting something that only goes up in value.

I have three couches in my house, but only one But. I guess I wasted my money huh?

11. You've only one butt?
No wonder the anti's can outtalk us so often. Most seem to be talking out of theirs. Therefore, they either have two (butts) or well-trained shpincters.

(Guess that explains why so many anti's are talking shit all the time.)

Yes, I said Indian. My Navajo and Pima friends prefer the term. Hell, I'm a native American what with being born here.

Anyway, your point was taken with the original fetish post.

Oh, wait, we don't have a problem with lots of people killing people with golf clubs on a regular basis, so that'd be a pretty pointless thread...

25. You should have been a bit more clearer in your original post then.
"Speaking for myself, I only have two, which drastically limits my ability to effectively use more than one rifle/shotgun at any given time, so owning a whole whack of them strikes me as pretty pointless..."

You're perplexed why anyone would need or have any use for more than one (or a few), firearms. Now you're 'buh-buh-buhing' about it and introduce
murder into the mix... whatever.

Unimportant, irreleveant... one person, one gun; or one person and a multitude of guns can kill just as easily as the other.

My "golf bag" analogy relates to the the proper tool for the proper occasion.

I'd no sooner swing at a 300 yd drive with a putter than I'd shoot at clay pigeons with a bolt action rifle.

A person can easily kill another person with one gun or one golf club... just ask Michael Skakel.

9. I shoot 'em one at at time.
DO you only get one item at a time at a buffet? I can only sit in one chair at a time, but I have several (kinda like the sofas mentioned earlier). The same goes for just about anything. No need for more than one TV, radio, stereo, or even clothes - one set to wear while the others wash - using that reasoning.

31. use both hands, your accuracy will improve

I know this is just more excited anti-gun drivel, but I will answer it anyways.

Different guns have different purposes. I will assume that even IF you are anti-hunting, you do hope that hunters use guns that will give clean and humane kills, yes?

Okay then. When it is time to hunt rabbits, a .22LR rifle is a great gun to use. Unfortunatly, it wouldn't work very good against deer, even in thick woods.

So you go and buy a deer rifle. Get a 30-30 lever action like Grandpa used to have, and you will be just fine.

however, now you are going to hunt antelope. The 30-30 had the power, but not the range, so you go buy a bolt action rifle in .243 winchester

now you decide to go hunt moose. That 30-30 doesn't have enough power or range, and the .243 is pretty poor in the power catagory too. So you buy a nice .338 winchester and use that.

Best gun for the task, most humane gun for the task, requires more than one gun being used

6. Hello all
I know your question was directed at the thread originator JibJab but I did not see any when I went to the Bealton, VA gun show a month or two ago....on the other hand I only saw a few Bush/Chenny(sp?) stickers.

Usually there isn't a set political theme at gunshows anyhow. ;)

7. What would gun porn be without pictures?
"Usually there isn't a set political theme at gunshows"
Ah hahahahahahahahahaha!!! That IS funny.

"Mask any surprise or disbelief. This will serve you particularly well when you're looking over some of the tables dotted with Swastika patches and white supremacist offerings, like The Turner Diaries and literature that denies the Holocaust. "

http://www.lasvegasweekly.com/2003/05_15/news_upfront1.html

"Throughout the Clinton Presidency, the NRA kept up the pressure. "In the 1990s, festering anti-government hysteria received validation from the (NRA)," the Violence Policy Center reported in its study, "Gun Shows in America: Tupperware Party for Criminals." "The NRA bombarded gun owners with direct mail calling federal law enforcement personnel 'jackbooted thugs' and warned readers that it was only a matter of time before President Clinton 'pushes legislation that takes away from our freedoms and creates a police state.' "With the NRA providing the motive, gun shows offered the means for disaffected gun owners to get involved in the militia movement."
While cyberspace is providing extremists a strong vehicle for communication and organization, there's no reason to believe that their reliance on gun shows as a venue to spread their message will ebb.
"As long as there are gun shows, they'll always be an integral part of the movement," Roy said. "If you look at the dynamics of extremists, these are people who are angry, they're frustrated, they're afraid, they're trying to regain control of their lives. They're looking for someone to blame; they're looking for empowerment. Guns are certainly empowering. So as long as you have extremism, you'll probably have gun shows."

"Guns were not the only items for sale. Tucked in between the tables of sleek new rifles and a sea of magazine rounds was a display of Nazi memorabilia, from a mammoth swastika flag that could seen be from all over the hall, to silver and coins and jewelry that purportedly had belonged to the Nazis."

10. Actually, there were a couple of Shrub stickers and a TON
of Kerry stickers and buttons. A couple of folks had even made Kerry hats using bumper stickers. Most of the buyers were dems. I know that because we were all chatting for an hour or so during the inspection period. The only buyers I can identify positively as Shrub supporters were two gun shop owners that bought the SKB and the Perazzi.

The auction was in a small farming community about an hour south of Louisville. Farmers around here tend to go Dem. despite the wrongheadedness about the tobacco issue and the recent idiocy about firearms. Thank goodness the DNC is improving on 2A issues.

Edited on Sun Sep-19-04 07:43 AM by Redneck Socialist
the Democratic candidate for Governor in my state (who later went on to win the election) had a booth set up. Oddly enough Democrats buy guns too.

Edited for clarity.

27. as long as not handguns, it's usually A-OK
Some states have a one-every-30 days-law on buying handguns (like VA), but long guns are buy-all-you want FWIK.

Buying more than one handgun every five days (from the same dealer) requires that BATFE be given special notice, but the transactions aren't prohibited.

That takes the limit heat off in all respects - for them. I'm sure we'll still have the ATF crapola for the two-in-a-week rule.

28. Checks were done.
No limit on longarms or handguns in my state. No waiting periods except for the time for the call for the NICS.

According to the auctioneer, his attorney said the law was a bit hazy because the auctioneer never actually takes possession of the firearms, but they figured it was better to be safe than sorry.
