Israel denies medical teams, food supplies entry to Gaza
Israel has denied Human Rights Watch and aid agencies entry to the Gaza Strip as Palestinians grapple with a shortage of vital supplies.

Israeli officials on Wednesday refused to allow prominent European medical teams and Human Rights Watch representatives to cross the border into the beleaguered strip.

Gazans, meanwhile, are in dire need of humanitarian aid following a three-week long Israeli onslaught on the costal sliver, said Press TV correspondent Akram al-Sattari at the Rafah border crossing.

Gaza hospitals are also running out of fuel supplies while they had to take measures to continue providing service to the thousands of people who have been injured in Israeli attacks.

According to our correspondent, only four truck loads of aid supplies have so far crossed the border into the Gaza Strip.

1. Not that I don't believe this, but can you find a more reliable source
for stories than a propaganda site? Why do you think Press is any better than Israel National News? Grab a clue. It's not.

Aid agencies ramp up Gaza operations after conflict

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Aid agencies poured resources into the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip Tuesday, providing basic essentials to tens of thousands of Palestinians in need of emergency aid after three weeks of devastating conflict.

Israel, which controls border entry points into Gaza, said it hoped to triple the number of trucks being allowed to deliver assistance to the 140 square mile (360 sq km) sliver of land.

"We want to reach 500 trucks a day," said Isaac Herzog, the Israeli cabinet minister overseeing shipments from the Israeli side of the frontier. Around 150 trucks are currently delivering aid, including food and medicine, to the 1.5 million population.

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency, which has been operating in the Gaza Strip since 1948, said it carried out a preliminary assessment of the needs on the ground and determined that at least $330 million (236 million pounds) of emergency spending was required.
