The appointment of US Mideast Envoy George Mitchell is "very disturbing," Yesha Council Chairman Danny Dayan told Ynet Saturday evening.



"Soon we will need to get Obama's request to have children," Dayan said, alluding to Mitchell's previously voiced objection to allowing natural growth in West Bank settlements.



"In the past, Mitchell made an indecent comparison between the war on terror and the settlements," the Yesha leader said. "Right now it's important for us to have a government that will stand up for our interests."

However, for the time being the Yesha Council does not intend to engage in an all-out clash with the returning US envoy, officials said. The settler group will weigh its actions following the upcoming Knesset elections.

Yesha Council head Danny Dayan said Saturday evening that Mitchell's appointment is a “disturbing” one. He cited a report prepared by Mitchell during President Bill Clinton's term, in which he called for an end to all settlement activity “including natural growth.”

I am not surprised they are not keen on Obama or Mitchell. Fortunately, they represent a minority, though a nasty one, in Israel, and with any luck, will not be able to have any influence on the peace process.

7. Ketzale contradicts himself within two breaths

1) Ketzale said that Obama needed to be reminded that Israel is not an American colony or the 51st state.

2) He was then quoted as saying, It's arrogance and even chutzpah for a US Admin to disrespect the Israeli public.

Ketzale seems to think that the US is an Israeli colony. Obama answers to his American constituents, even if his predecessor was at the beck and call of the Israeli government. Israelis are not Americans.

We'll see if Obama lives up to his declaration that he's a friend of peace and an enemy of terror and corruption.
