Syrian opposition: Post-Assad regime will cut ties with Iran, Hezbollah

Syrian National Council head Burhan Ghalioun said that an opposition-run Syria would cut ties with Iran, Hezbollah and Hamas, the Wall Street Journal reported Friday.

“After the fall of the Syrian regime, (Hezbollah) won't be the same,” he told the paper.

Too bad "progressives", like the Ayatollahs in Iran, won't back this movement. They'll use the same argument. It's too Zionist.

Just as the Egyptian elections are showing, the merchants of death will be the ones most likely to rise to power.

I do think the Little Assad government is toasted, though it's not over until it's over, it could take a long time still to fall.

However, when it does fall, it will not surprise me to see that the new government is quite friendly with Turkey, W. Iraq, Jordan, the Lebanese opposition, etc. those who have supported the anti-government forces.

Similarly, most likely it will not be friends with supporters of Little Assad. as least until the normal geo-political considerations re-assert themselves.

How that affects Hezbollah and Hamas is hard to say. I think the influence of Syria is overrated in this, Little Assad has been a skillful leader, but not a strong one. A good deal may depend also on what happens in Egypt, which is in every way much more relevant than Syria.

4. I've contributed to the rebels in Daraa...

I'd do so again tomorrow if the opportunity presented itself. I am pleased that the new Libyan government has pledged material assistance to the rebels as well as the fact that both Jordan, Turkey, and the Arab League have put the regime on notice. Hamas, for what its worth, has refused to condemn the rebels and there is substantial internal debate within Hezbollah as to whether they should continue to support the Syrian regime.

So, basically, this is just another bullshit statement from you without any basis in fact.
