Israel’s unemployment is highest in the west this year
Edited on Fri Apr-09-04 03:18 AM by Gimel
Until now Spain and Belgium led the unemployment rate in developed countries.

Yossi Grinstein

The number of unemployed people in Israel is expected to rise by the end of 2004 to 11.3% of the work force, reaching 305,000 – the highest among the developed states in the world.

Until now Spain and Belgium led the unemployment rate in the West.

Despite the improvement in the economic growth forecast and the reported emergence from the recession, the number of job seekers in Israel is expected to grow by some 20,000 this year, government sources said.

In the United States the unemployment rate is less than half, with 5.6%. In Britain it is 4.8% and in Japan 5%. Europe has an average unemployment rate of 8.8% in the European Union. Spain leads the unemployment rate (11.2%) followed by Germany (10.3%), France ( 9.6%) and Italy (8.4%).

3. Absolutely
The illusions that Israelis are thriving is prevailing, evidently. Despite the economic distress, it is urged to give the Palestinians a free ride to economic security, something most Israelis don't have.

5. But Israel
is not in a position to pave their way to prosperity. Their actions have been costly. The Intifada cost millions in lost revenue for Israel.

6. The solution...
If the occupation is too costly to maintain, then Israel should withdraw from the West Bank and Gaza Strip and take each and every one of those settlers with them....
