Israel said working to house Palestinians in Gaza
Israel is working to construct multi-story buildings to house Palestinian refugees in the Gaza Strip settlements slated for evacuation, a political official said Sunday.

Sources in the Prime Minister's Office said Israel's evacuation from Gaza is intended to help bring about the rehabilitation of the Palestinian refugees - as well as take the focus off the Palestinians' claim of a right of return to Israel.

The political official said in a press briefing Sunday that the settlers' homes would be destroyed upon evacuation, but that the settlement infrastructure would remain intact.

"Money will likely come mainly from donor countries and will be invested in developing and rehabilitating Gaza," the source said. "Israel will make reciept of the money conditional on whether it will be used appropriately. Settlers' homes will be destroyed, but the infrastructure in the settlements - including water, electricity and roads - will remain, and will be transferred to the international community only under certain conditions."

4. Perhaps the Palestinians could take...
...all the money Israel payed in compensation for housing they destroyed in Gaza and use it to buy these homes.

5. A quick question...
Why must refugees BUY homes to replace the ones destroyed by Israel?

6. Why should Israel get funds slated for the Palestinian people?
"Money will likely come mainly from donor countries and will be invested in developing and rehabilitating Gaza," the source said. "Israel will make reciept of the money conditional on whether it will be used appropriately."

Surely donor countries wouldn't be stupid enough to hand funds slated for the Palestinians to Israel, would they? That'd be a sure-fire way to ensure the funds will never get where they're meant to go...
