Two killed in Qassams strike on Sderot; Israel vows to act
Two people, one of them a young child, were killed and at least nine others were wounded Monday morning, when four Qassam rockets landed on the southern town of Sderot.

Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and security chiefs decided in a meeting Monday afternoon that Israel will respond to a Qassam rocket attack in Sderot earlier in the day, in which two people were killed.

Nine other people were wounded in the rocket strike on the southern town, the first fatal attack of its kind. The strike in the wake of an explosion at an IDF post in the Gaza Strip late Sunday, in which one soldier was killed and five others were wounded.

Since the start of the intifada in September 2000, 347 Qassam rockets have been fired at Israeli targets, of which 265 have landed within the Green Line.
