Ex-Aide Tells Israeli Paper of a Relentless McGreevey
Ex-Aide Tells Israeli Paper of a Relentless McGreevey
By PATRICK HEALY

Published: August 16, 2004

Golan Cipel, the political appointee said to have had an affair with Gov. James E. McGreevey of New Jersey, was quoted in an Israeli newspaper as saying that he is heterosexual. He portrayed himself as a victim of unwanted advances by the governor.

"He hit on me over and over," Mr. Cipel is quoted in an interview published in the newspaper, Yediot Ahronot. "I got to a point where I was afraid to stay with him alone."

Mr. Cipel said that at first he was unaware that the governor was gay. He dismissed as insane allegations that he had tried to blackmail Mr. McGreevey.

Neither Mr. Cipel nor his lawyer Allen M. Lowy could be reached yesterday to verify the remarks, which are believed to be Mr. Cipel's first public statements about his relationship with Mr. McGreevey.....

personal note: This is I/P news because there are allegations that Cipel is trying to blackmail McGreevey, and or sabotage McGreevey to influence the election toward Bush for Israel.

2. I don't view McGreevey as a predator. For one thing, if he were, the
behavior would have showed up in NJ legislation where he would have forced his will upon republicans in the Statehouse. Second, I think McGreevey was duped into trusting the wrong person. Third, Cipell was well taken care of. That doesn't sound like a victim to me.

3. Nothing to do with I/p, however
This discussion shouldn't be on the I/P forum.

for US politics. Like I said, it has nothing to do with Israel or with I/P.

. He seemed to object to the writer of the piece. Didn't specify what allegations had been debunked.

US politics as they relate to Israel have everything to do with I/P.

7. My objections are many with the thread...

But ask yourself, why would a Mossad agent jeopardize his mission by filing a public sexual harassment suit over the matter and seeking $50 million in damages? Raimondo's additions to this illogic make this even more ludicrous.

As for debunked facts. The issues with Israeli movers in both NJ and Tennessee have been disproven. The former was raised up back when a core of anti-Semites were trying to link Israel as an active player to 9/11 in order to justify a Jewish conspiracy in the US. The latter was shown to be a mistake.

Raimondo's article is even worse with a stream of consciousness article which tries to paint a picture using disconnected facts and themes involving, terrorism, the Democratic Party, NJ, Israel and Judaism to hint of a Jewish conspiracy inside at the very core of NJ politics. Most of his research is not original, but rather "Google" based with all that implies.

In the end, both articles attempt to create an air of conspiracy to sell varied agendas.

On Edit: I'm also going to lock this thread as it is also taking the path that the other thread took.
