"Foreign Minister Sylvan Shalom said last night that the expulsion of Palestinian Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat is closer than ever.
Shalom, who addressed a gathering of Likud activists, said, “We are continuing with a policy of isolating Arafat in the Mukata. He is not a man that we should talk to."
The foreign minister added, “Arafat has no place among us and the day will come in which we will remove him from this area elsewhere. That day is closer than ever. Arafat is a terrorist."

"Shalom’s remarks came two days after Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz reiterated the government’s commitment to expel Arafat.
“The Cabinet last year reached a decision that Arafat was an obstacle to peace and the State of Israel would find the way and proper timing to bring about his removal from the area. I believe that decision is still intact”, Mofaz told Army Radio."
