Israeli attacks kill several in Gaza

Several Palestinians have been killed and injured in separate Israeli attacks including an air strike on Gaza.

Two Palestinians were killed and at least eight wounded in an Israeli air raid on Gaza City, witnesses and medics said.

A missile struck Tal al-Hawa district, north of Gaza City, on Monday.

The targeted vehicle was a small pickup truck with official Palestinian Authority licence plates, witnesses said.

Earlier, one Palestinian man was killed and several others injured in separate incidents in the Gaza Strip.

Salim Abu Shabab, 30, was shot dead just south of the central Gaza Strip town of Deir al-Balah, Palestinian medical sources said.

Abu Shabab, who is from the town of Khan Yunis, was shot several times in the head and stomach, according to Ibrahim al-Masdar, director of the Shuhada al-Aqsa hospital in Deir al-Balah.

The Israeli army said he was approaching the illegal settlement of Kissifum, but admitted he was found to be unarmed.

Also in Gaza, two Palestinians were injured when Israeli tanks fired at a group of pedestrians, according to witnesses and local hospital sources.

Israeli troops also barricaded off the main coastal road leading into Gaza city on Monday morning, forcing Palestinians to travel along the beach by foot or donkey cart a distance of approximately 3km.

Pedestrian traffic was halted when Israeli tanks began to fire at the Palestinian commuters, said witnesses.

"There was literally a rain of tank fire overhead, they didn't care that there were human beings there," said 22-year-old Hanan Abu Saad.

2. What is Israel doing in the Gaze Strip. That was not included in the

original U.N. mandate. Israeli settlements in the Gaza Strip and on the West Bank need to be evacuated and turned over to Palestinians.
