Does anyone remember a "Day of Mourning for the 9/11 Victims?
I hope this is not a double post; however, I hit some key and my previous post disappeared or at least I can no longer find it.

My question was regarding the "Day of Mourning" where everything has shut down, including our Government. I do not remember that myself.

I remember being told to "Go back to work because if you do not, the terrorists have won. Spend money because if you don't, the terrorists have won. I do not remember a day when the whole nation stopped to honor those 3000+ people who were murdered. We were told to push, push, push ourselves for capitalism or the terrorists have won.

I worked out of my house at the time of 9/11 doing medical transcription. I always had a small television on my desk on but the sound turned down. I saw 9/11 from the moment it started. Those of us who saw all of it that happened live saw EVERY horror there was to see that day. I know what the news showed later to people who were working during the events. They edited out a lot of the most horrible things that happened that day. I will never forget it as I am sure none of you will; but, if you were home that day, you know what I'm talking about.

Also, we had a contract with a hospital in New York and while working, my boss sent out an email asking for volunteers for extra work because of all the injured that would be coming. Of course, we all volunteered; however, there were no bodies, there was no extra dictation from the docs.

Near the end of the day, my boss sent another email stating (this is so sickening), "Let's get 10% over our production today. Let's show those terrorists they will not stop us from doing a great job." Stupid, huh??

1. Bush is into SELECTIVE mourning
In keeping with his policy to show SOME flag-draped coffins, and HIDE others from view.

As for a day of mourning for the 9/11 victims, well they were just working stiffs, even if they did wear suits. Would you want Babs to waste her beautiful mind on THEM?

2. IIRC
the day they had the memorial service in DC was a National Day of Remembrance but I don't recall if businesses were officially closed.
