Putin Says Russia Gave U.S. Information About Potential Iraqi Attacks in the United States
By Bagila Bukharbayeva Associated Press Writer

ASTANA, Kazakhstan (AP) - Russia gave the Bush administration intelligence after the September 11 attacks that suggested Saddam Hussein's regime in Iraq was preparing attacks in the United States, President Vladimir Putin said Friday.

Putin said he couldn't comment on how critical the Russians' information was in the U.S. decision to invade Iraq. He said Russia didn't have any information that Saddam's regime was actually behind any terrorist acts.

"After Sept. 11, 2001, and before the start of the military operation in Iraq, the Russian special services, the intelligence service, received information that officials from Saddam's regime were preparing terrorist attacks in the United States and outside it against the U.S. military and other interests," Putin said.

He said President Bush personally thanked one of the leaders of Russia's intelligence agencies for the information. There was no immediate comment from U.S. officials. <snip>

1. F....ing BULLSHIT.
If that was the case, why wasn't Russia in favor of invading Iraq? This is a pile of garbage.

3. Let's talk about the number of times
we believed Russian leaders over the past 225 years. That would be 0! The Evil Empire, and all. Wonder how "Pootie Poot" will get his pay off?

5. Yeah, right...

Bush cited "Britain says: uranium from Africa" which he knew to be bullshit. "Links to Al-Qaida" which he knew to be bullshit. And he didn't mention "Russia says: Saddam planning terrorist attacks against the U.S." until now, when he is being called on the first two assertions?

If Bush or Putin had said the "Saddam is planning..." line before the war a lot more people would have supported the war, or at least had a harder time opposing it. The U.N. would have had a hard time opposing it, or even going with the inspection regime. There's no way the Bushies would have kept that to themselves till now.

Way, way, way too convinient. The way CNN is playing the story it even looks like they think it's bullshit.

6. If this is a believable threat, BUSH MISLEAD THE COUNTRY by not mentioning

this DEFINITIVE proof in his reasons for the Iraqi war. Why didn't he forewarn the US of A REAL AND DIRECT THREAT OF ATTACK ON OUR SOIL, especially if it was a warning ISSUED BY PUTIN who should be an impeccable source????

7. Do svidanja
The party's over
It's time to call it a day
They've burst your pretty balloon
And taken the moon away
It's time to wind up the masquerade
Just make your mind up the piper must be paid

The party's over
The candles flicker and dim
You danced and dreamed through the night
It seemed to be right just being with him
Now you must wake up, all dreams must end
Take off your makeup, the party's over
It's all over, my friend

September 15th 2001, Putin was interviewed on MSNBC saying he told his agency to warn Bush in the 'strongest possible terms' about an upcoming attack before 9/11....still havent been able to confirm this.....I'd like to see that original interview
