what is it
with these turned flags nearly all soldiers are wearing now?

I know (sort of) the meaning of the flag upside down but turned around?

4. It offends some people's sense of symmetry....

...to have the stripes leading on a flag that, if hanging, would point the other way.

It's not new - they paint them on aircraft that way all of the time.

Think about this flag:

?v=0

If you think about, for example, the two flags on the front of an official vehicle, they end up looking "backwards" because they are flown that way.

So, as patches on uniforms, then are printed that way - as if they were unfurled by forward motion of the person wearing them.

There is no "meaning" to it.
