One of the people the conspiracy theorists are trying to convince is someone that was THERE, that watched WTC 7 fall, who was trained in investigating suspicious fires. Some guy from Seattle is trying to tell this FDNY firefighter what he saw. Hysterical stuff.

What was there earlier was one of those standard ad links pages that domain registrars default to if a site isn't paid for, or in between DNS changes.

Now that it's back up, we can see how pathetic it is. Looks like Josef hasen't learned anything at all in 7 years about the collapses. He's got some pretty neat sculptures - he should stick to that.

All I can say is that I clicked the link and found the expired page message that I reproduced. Now it's working.

Josef Princiotta wasn't a member of the FDNY. He had a cousin who was and died on 9/11. Therefore calling his cite a "FDNY site" is grossly inaccurate.

Again, Princiotta wasn't there. There are firefighters at the link who were. Princiotta should refrain from telling those who were there what they saw and heard.

And the same goes for BeFree and wildbill.

I simply will not reply to challenges that do not address this question. Refutability is one of the classic determinants of whether a theory can be called scientific. Moreover, I have found it to be a great general-purpose cut-through-the-crap question to determine whether somebody is interested in serious intellectual inquiry or just playing mind games. Note, by the way, that I am assuming the burden of proof here - all you have to do is commit to a criterion for testing. It's easy to criticize science for being "closed-minded". Are you open-minded enough to consider whether your ideas might be wrong?

Who Stands to Profit?

A question much asked by 9-11 truthers, who point to gold allegedly being removed from the World Trade Center, investigative files being destroyed, a pretext for invading Iraq or declaring martial law, etc.

A few months ago I agreed to be on a truther talk show (I'll try almost anything once. Almost.) and the commercial breaks were a revelation. There were endless spiels for crank medical remedies and nutritional supplements, investment schemes that ranged from shady to crazy, newsletters for conspiracy cults, and wacko theories on how to avoid taxes. One former truther who became disillusioned said he would no longer help the movement sell T-shirts and DVD's. It's a lot more than just T-shirts and DVD's. Look at the Web sites, the newsletters, listen to the talk shows and look at who's bankrolling them and advertising on them. Truther sites are to conspiracy thinkers what televangelists are to lonely Christians: a place to send money to buy a feeling of participation and fulfillment.
