In his paper “What Is Your ‘HOP’ Level?” Nick Levis, who co-coordinates the N.Y. 9/11 Truth meetings with Father Morales and Les Jamieson, categorizes the basic narrative theories about September 11. The options essentially boil down to four.



(A) The Official Story (a.k.a. “The Official Conspiracy Theory”). The received Bushian line: Osama, nineteen freedom-haters with box cutters, etc. As White House press secretary Ari Fleischer said, there was “no warning.”



(B) The Incompetence Theory (also the Stupidity, Arrogance, “Reno Wall” Theory). Accepts the Official Story, adds failure by the White House, FBI, CIA, NSA, etc. to heed ample warnings. This line was advanced, with much ass-covering compensation, in The 9/11 Commission Report.



(C) LIHOP (or “Let It Happen on Purpose”). Many variations, but primarily that elements of the U.S. government and the private sector were aware of the hijackers’ plans and, recognizing that 9/11 suited their policy goals, did nothing to stop it.



(D) MIHOP (“Made It Happen on Purpose”). The U.S. government or private forces planned and executed the attacks.

which may not be part of any given liphop/mihop hypothesis.

Assumption number one: that it's the administration LIHOP or MIHOP we're talking about, in the strict sense of Bush and a few people close to him. (e.g., I don't think Bush knew; I think he was sent to that school to read My Pet Goat and be out of the way.)

Assumption number two: that whatever has happened in Iraq, or whatever has been done about Katrina, or whatever happened in Abu Ghraib was anything else than the intended result.

I wrote to "Mr Guy" who posted this curious item on Fark and asked him what it meant.

This is what he wrote back:

"They were doing work for the Navy on control software. What they saw was air traffic control immediately grounding all flights. They had all airplanes land at the nearest facility, and prevented new planes from going up."

So he's just being an unclear writer, but not referring to what you kind of hoped this was....

14. simple answer: there is no "investigative journalism" ...

There is only the shell of what people came to expect from "the fifth estate".

Publishers control editors and editors control what "journalists" write and what is printed.

Corporations have a vested interest in secrecy. Case in point is the rise in legal settlements tied to "gag orders".

"Many times a legal settlement will contain a clause barring the parties thereto from disclosing the terms of the settlement in public. This restriction is referred to as a gag order.

It is interesting to note that not only the court-system is seeking to silence individuals; employers, too, make use of the gag order to prevent employees or contractors from going public with unwanted information."

So the truth is buried more and more, preventing others from knowing the dangers and pitfalls caused by corporate parties. This allows for people to keep falling into the same pitfalls, and the benefit of shared knowledge and warnings is totally lost.

Imagine an old village: if one person got ripped off by a shopkeeper, that "news" would quickly travel around the entire village and if that shopkeeper didn't mend their ways, they'd eventually be out of business (if not worse).

By hiding lies, liars get away with more and more, and eventually get more and more power to hide their lies.

That is essentially has happened with the "news media". Owned by lying corporations, they would get no benefit from exposing their peer corporations for the lying and stealing they have a free hand in doing.

It comes down to one sad reality in today's America: "Whoever signs your paycheck IS YOUR DADDY"... And daddy doesn't want to be reminded how little they investigated the biggest thing WORTH investigating in our lifetimes.

p.s. Loose Change ed 2 is too clear -- any "news people" watching it can only realize that they were totally useless in what they "pride themselves in achieving" seeking the truth... A bunch of kids did a better job than ALL the newspapers and tv anchors and pundits and ... shall I go on? They're all guilty and THEY KNOW IT!
