1. Unfortunately, in this country we don't believe in any more than
two parties. There will have to be a grassroots groundswell of enormous proportions by average Americans to force election reform on the power duopoly of Republicans and Democrats in order to challenge their authority. 9/11 could and should be the galvanizing event for such a movement because it is the grossest example of the duopoly's betrayal of our nation.

but no more than a sporadic handful have been elected. The election laws are so stacked against anyone outside of the two parties that it's extremely difficult to gain any traction. In fact, the election laws are so stacked to favor incumbency that it's virtually impossible for any major challenge to come from within a particular party to change it's direction in a meaningful way. The system is locked up tight, both inside and out.
