Democratic Rivals Training Sights on Clark
MANCHESTER, N.H. (Reuters) - With most political attention focused on the Democratic presidential contest in Iowa, retired Gen. Wesley Clark has been quietly on the offensive in recent weeks in the other key early state of New Hampshire. But the counterattack is now well under way.

Clark, an electoral novice who joined the race too late to mount a challenge in Iowa's caucuses on Jan. 19, has put his energy into campaigning for New Hampshire's primary election on Jan. 27 and has been rewarded with second place, behind front-runner Howard Dean, in recent polls in the state.

But his rise is also starting to make him a target for the sort of fire that the other Democratic contenders had previously been reserving for Dean.

Leading the charge on Monday was the campaign of Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry, which enlisted several New Hampshire Democratic heavyweights to question Clark's party credentials, a possible soft spot for a candidate who admits to having voted for Republicans Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan.

7. I hope so too
He was on the debate team at West Pointe and speaks better then any of the other candidates! As a former Rhodes Scholar, he will win every time.

5. Clark may have changed his viewpoints BUT
aren't you the least bit concerned about his voting record? Doesn't a lifetime of dedication to progressive values matter? A lifetime of standing up for peace and democracy?

Kerry and Clark have similar appeals in terms of being the strongest candidates in the '04 election but one has a proven record to go on while the other remains a mystery.

I hope the voters in NH go with someone they know they can count on to fight their fights - because he's been doing it for a lifetime...John Kerry.

Peace.

6. Yes, Kerry and Clark are battling for 2nd place in NH.
But I don't expect it to get too ugly. They're both pretty decent people. I'm a Clark supporter, but I like Kerry, too. I guess whoever New Hampshire citizens think has the best vision will get 2nd place. Let the games begin.
